Headline: Zhao Wei giving up acting and become a teacher?

Most people know that "Xiao Yen Zhi" is from Beijing Movie College. It is rumoured that she is applying to the school to be an instructor there and from the reliable source, it is understood that her applicant might be accepted. It is said that Zhao Wei wish to pursue the acting course further and since she has supporters in the school,she thinks of taking up teaching post there. Zhao Wei expresses that earlier due to her heavy commitments in actings, she has spent little time in the school. 4/24/00- The production of QSSYMM is going to shart shooting in Shanghai.However there is rumour saying that Zhao Wei is not happy and not satisfied with her outfits and hairdos.When Wei heard about these,she laughs and says that she will definitely act in this serie because it is a good one.

As regarding the hairdos,she says that it is just a professional instinct.The character of the role she plays is self-conceit,strong headed and has inferiority complex.With all these characteristics,the hairdos should not be in this way.So after much discussion,Qing Yao also agreed to her suggestions. As the producer of this serial is Qing Yao and with the four popular artistes like Vicki,Alec,Leo and so on and one of the investors is China's Central TV Station,this production has become a hot tropic among the entertainment circle. 4/20/2000-Director of Xia Neu/Liu Lan Tian Ya, Chen Siao Don says to reporters that he feels, Zhao Wei has improved immensely since HZGG I. As Siao Yan Zi in Xin Yao's serie, HZGG I and II, Zhao Wei's martial art was almost non-existent. But in Xia Neu, Chen Siao Don has changed her Siao Yan Zi's image intirely. He smilingly says that the 1st martial scene Zhao Wei did, she had to NG it 75 times as she struggled to get the martial moves right. But as time went on, no matter how hard it became, Zhao Wei determinely tries again and again, refusing the use of another person to do her scene. With the encouragement of the director as he shouts from the sideline, "Yes! That was great!" and "You've got it!" her acting skills improved, even from her awarding winning character, Siao Yan Zi.

Chen Siao Don says that in the first 15 episodes, she has to act as a women impersonating a male, which she did, bringing to life the honest and loyal brother image, then in the last 25 episodes, she has to have a love affair with both Nicky Wu and another actor (sorry, lost the name..). Her acting skills have made another step up the latter, reaching a new height.

Though nobody know whether this time "swallow"fever will be as hot as last year's HZGG, but TVB will definitely not let Zhao Wei keep still. If with ATV's present strength, can make Zhao Wei whirlwind sensation blasting across HK,then with TVB's manpowder,financial sound and high rating productions,the effect should be more powerful.

Even after making a big maistake onstage when she mistakenly sang the theme song from HZGG, Zhao Wei remained happy. Last night, Zhao Wei gave the workers at the TVB show a huge scare when she mistenly sang the song from the opposing channel, ATV's HZGG's song. But even after the disaster, Zhao Wei remained in high spirit, and went shopping with her boyfriend, Ye Mau Xin along the streets of HK. Yesteraday, at about 5pm, Zhao Wei was seem with her boyfriend, shopping along the streets of HK. On one street, she stopped for 20 minutes, trying on the makeups on display. In the end, she bought her bag of makeups and continue on wandering. As they walk, the long time couple did not hold hands, but to passbyers, they seem a sweet couple as they chatted and talked as they wander. This seems to scratch out all the rumors on Nicky Wu and Zhao Wei's "love affair." At about 5:35pm, they enter a coffee shop where they were met with a friend. 4/5/2000-Fei Fei (Lydia Sum) had made a blunder in the charity show "Community Welfare" on 4/4/200.When Vicki appeared on stage, FeiFei called her nickname "Little Swallow" and asked her to sing one of the songs from HZGG.(This is against rule of TVB because HZGG was aired in the rival station.) The show attendants panic and made signal to Feifei but she was too aborbed in the show that she missed it.Luckily her colleague Wu Jia Le quickly whisper to her.However FeiFei, being well experience compere, able to change the awkward position and asked Vicki to play a game with Qian Jia Le.She had to starred at Qian in a very tender way and Qian in return had to try to "electrify" her.This game was gained a loud applaud from the audience. When come to the games,Vicki is just like a "swallow".She is very active.In one of the games,she had to compete with a newcomer Xiao Xue in eating ice-cream.They had to bent down their bodies,turn 8 rounds and run to the end-point to eat the ice-cream.Xiao Xue had to give up due to the giddyness whereas Vicki with the support of the audience manage to made to the end point.In another game Vicki was hang high up and had to leap over a narrow passage to get a "diamond" In the first two attempt she failed .So FeiFei was kind enough give her another chance to try.In the third attempt she was able to get the "diamond" but infact it was just a stone.The real diamond which worth HK$30,000 was won by Jiang Hua. That night Qian Jia Le was a big winner.He won HK$150,000 worth of prizes and his counterpart-the audience also won $140,000.FeiFei made fun of Qian that he can get marry now.

Vicki is the contracting singer in Wu Xian (Another TV station), but because her TV serie with Nicki Wu is on air these days in ATV, therefore ATV told the public that she would come to HK for promotion of the TV serie. 4/1/2000-Zhao Wei is in HK again! This time she came because she was invited by Wu Xian (a large TV channel{TVB}) to be a guest on a charity show for children. As a singer under Wu Xian's contract, this was her first time ever to participate in any events. She will be singing with another singer, the song, "The Moon Reflects My Heart" (The theme song for Lau Fan Yiu See). She also had a little fans meeting where her autographs were sold for $20.00 each. The profits all went to the chartity. At first, Vicki was afraid that the fans wouldn't reconize her anymore as it has been a while since she's visited HK. But she was suprised by the number of fans she drew. She was completely surrounded by the 500 fans that showed up. When asked whether she will be promoting her new work, "Xia Neu" which was under Ya She (The opponent channel{ATV) Vicki reflected that she didn't think so as she came to HK because she was invited by Wu Xian this time.

4/1/2000-When asked about the rumors about Nicky Wu, Vicki said that Nicky and her were "brothers" and friends, nothing like the media has made them out to be. She says that Nicky was nice to everyone on the set, and she knew he phones his girlfriend every single day, talking in cantonese. She will not avoid him because of the news. She saids that the rumors has not managed to hurt her relationship with her boyfriend as there was trust between them. She believed him without questions when he was "caught" by reporters having dinner with another girl, she believe he will believe her also.

The slightly nervous Vicky shown her charm in a red-knitted cap, white cow-boy skirt and long-sleeved glove. Vicky said that she was impressed by the enthusiasm of the fans, many of whom she met for the first time. Xiao Yanzi, Zhao Wei is filming a new television serial "Xia Nu Chuang Tian Men" (please correct me if I am wrong). She is not acting as a princess but as a swordswoman, Ni Qiu who has romantic relationships with three men: The first is a cold-hearted killer, the second is a crown prince and the third is a little monk, Hao Shao Wen. These three relationships are already a huge headache and added on to this headache is the fact that she has to practise and acquire martial arts skills. Zhao Wei is really tortured in this series.

This production is set in the Ming dynasty and Zhao Wei as Niqiu wanted to get the Emperor's manuscript, was caught in an earthquake. As for the 60 kg Hao Shao Wen, although he is younger than Zhao Wei by 10 odd years, and acts as her little husband, this Grade 3 student have to wait till winter break before he will start filming. On March 12, Zhao Wei quietly passed her twenty-fourth birthday on the set of Xia Neu/Liu Lan Tian Ya. Because of the tight filming schedule, Zhao Wei's birthday passed very dully, though nicely. 3/17/2000-Right now Zhao Wei's in Mainland, China filming Xia Neu or Liu Lan Tian Ya with Nicky Wu. At first, the director of Yin Yu Men Men was afraid that Little Swallow might have gain weight and become a Big Swallow, but after visiting Zhao Wei at the site of Xia Neu, everyone was happy to find that Zhao Wei has lost alot of weight. Because her role in Xia Neu was a girl who was one of the top martial artist, she had to move about quite a bit. The exercise helped tremendusly in losing weight. Zhao Wei has said that she has already read the new script for Yin Yu Men Men, and was happy to find her character to be the complete opposite of the Little Swallow, which had helped her on her role to fame enormously. As soon as she had finished reading, she made her call to Xin Yao telling her that this role will be the hardest character she has ever played. But she liked this character alot, and will play the character to the best of her ability.

She also mentioned her suprise at the change of male lead but she thought it was pretty appropriate that Leo Gu was going to take over the role. The male lead, Shu Han, was a healthy, bubbly, and very altheltic character. She would like to work with Leo Gu very mauch.

That's when I shall start filming Qing Yao's (author of HZGG I and II) tv series, "New YYMM. There will be a major change between the new script and the original so the title of this series may change. However the 3 main cast will still remain the same - Alec Su, Ruby Lin and myself. The production will take about 4 months to complete.

Reporter: When mentioning Lui Dan's tragic accident...........

Vicki: Oh! I was the last person to hear the news! The reporters told me when I was in Hong Kong promoting the movie "The Duel." It is so frightening and is such a tragedy...

Reporter: After you became famous from HZGG, you have had a non-stop schedule, shooting movies and tv series. Aren't you not afraid that with these excessive acting, it will tarnish your clean image?

Vicki: As a matter of fact, compared to the rest of the HZGG cast, I am considered to have had the least deals. Since 1997 (after HZGG) to the year 2000, I have only acted in one TV series, OHHJ. As for movies, I have only acted in two, Deja Vu (Yuan 2000) and The Duel. In the entire year of 1999, I have not acted in any tv series. I only produced a couple of albums (CD's) and did 3 commercials. Maybe it's because my exposure is so much higher last year, people tend to think that I've been very busy in acting.

People first came to knew me from HZGG, I hope I can get more good scripts. Being an actor/actress, it is wise to know how to prolong the life span in the entertainment circle by choosing good quality scripts. Reporter: In the 3 years of your career in show biz, what did you gain or lost? In these times, did you end up compromising or give way to others?

Vicki: I am not the type that easily compromises. I just want to live happily.I will not give up things that makes me happy just for fame. Like last year's court case, there was a tv serie for me to act in but when I found out the script was not good, I insisted on not acting in it. In the end there was a lot of trouble. But in the end, I won the case and when the series shown, many people reflected that I was smart in rejecting it. I am happy because I can still make my own decision.

Reporter: At the end of last year, HK media speculated that your ex-teacher Xia Jin had passed comments on you at Nanjing University. Would you like to clarify this rumour?

Vicki: That was a misunderstanding. I contacted my teacher Xia Jin after the rumors were printed and according to him, the media had twisted the facts. In fact, he had said good things about me. When the reports came out, all the remarks became twisted abd some comments were cutten out. He was really angry with the reporters for using his name. He stressed that since I was his ex-student, he will only be proud of my achievements. I adore this great reputed director, so how can I have a row with him?

Reporter: Did you ever think of temporarily retreating from this entertainment circle to rebuild your energy?

Vicki: You mean rest! This year, it will be impossible, maybe next year. Now more and more people from all parts of the world have gotten to know me, I am very happy. I am very surprised at all these mails I receive from Vietnamese fans. I treasure this moment and know that youth is very important to an actress. Now there are lots of new and upcoming young actors and actresses replacing the old ones. I am still consider as a new comer. If I retreat now and come back later, I will probably become the older generation. Now the most important thing is work.

Vicki: Oh, that girl. I've met her and have had dinner with her once. She and my good friend Ye are acquainted. They even went shopping together in HK. That's how the rumour was spread.

Reporter: You never actually admit Ye is your boyfriend?

Vicki: I feel that I am still young and not in the hurry to get marry, so it is not necessary to announce to the world that I am...........(attached). Now I really treasure my career and feel that girls shouldn't be depend on men so much and should have their own career. In this modern society, to be independent makes a happier person!

Reporter: Between career and romance, which one will you choose?

Vicki: At the present, I will choose career. But I am not a workaholic and because of my parent's influence, I still treasure family values.

Reporter: What's is your criteria in choosing your partner for life?

Vicki: Hope that he is not proud of me only for my frame and both of us have our own individual space. Now that I'm become famous I am scared that people will like me for what I am, not for who I am. I hope that he really likes me as my real self and not for the sake of his vanity. He must also be a realistic person.

Reporter:What did your parent think when you enter the entertainment circle at such a young age?

Vicki: My parents are very supportive. My mother is a teacher and my father is a machinery engineer. To them, acting is just an interesting career. When I told them I want to be actress, they just encouraged me and told me to go and give it a try.

Reporter: How does your mother feel about being a mother of a movie star?

Vicki: Aiya! She is the busier person of the family. Everyday she has to help me answer the fans' mails. So now she has becomed everybody's "mother". My mother is a teacher so her vocabulary is very good. Now the fans like my mother more than they like me. Ha.....ha.
