Zhao Wei's News

10/2001-12/2002 News

12/30/2001-Lastest piece of news!

Despite the many bad rumors about Zhao Wei earlier on, Zhao Wei is nevertheless still one of the brightest star in the Asian horizen. According to the newest Top Ten Asian Stars chart, out of the forty famous stars that had been nominated, Zhao Wei, according to the voting counts, were the top number one star. The other 9 to follow includes Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Riche Ren, Ruby Lin and others...

This competition was brought throughout China, Hong Kong and Twaiwan and other Asian places and had around 4 hundred people participate in the votes.

Despite all, Zhao Wei is still the top star we brillant fans love!

12/30/2001-Right now Zhao Wei has already started the filming of her new movie, "Tian Xia Wu Shon" in Shang Hai. When the local reporters asked her about the incident in Hou Nan, Zhao Wei answered calmly that she was just fine. She had the reporters look at her for anything wrong with her. Despite the many reports that she had been hit over the head and beaten bloodly, there was little truth in the news. In front of the reporters stood a calm and obviously healthy Zhao Wei with not a single bruise.

About the incident Zhao Wei says that the man was not a terrorist, and was merely a fan who wanted to get closer to her which she could naturally understand. She did not believe the man should be arrested on those accounts. Zhao Wei also neatly pointed out that during that night, Sue Yu Pen was grabbed and kissed by a few girl fans as well. However, no one had written anything about that!

12/29/2001 - An unidentified man attacked controversial Chinese starlet Vickie Zhao Wei during a live television broadcast on Friday, the Beijing Evening News said on Saturday. The actress sparked a furious media campaign this month when she modelled a mini-dress printed with the old Japanese naval flag. The incident triggered a backlash among patriots in China still resentful of Tokyo's past aggression.

Zhao published a letter of apology in state media after a tabloid based in Nanjing, where Japanese troops killed hundreds of thousands of people in 1937, demanded a boycott of the actress and advertisements in which she appeared.

In southern Hunan province on Friday night a middle-aged man wearing a black leather jacket and a cap rushed the stage where Zhao and about a dozen children were dancing and singing in a live TV broadcast, the Evening News said.

The man grabbed Zhao by the neck with one hand and hit her with the other, knocking her to the ground, it said, citing eyewitnesses. The live broadcast went off the air for 10 minutes.

A policeman in the studio arrested the man while two workers carried Zhao away, it said.

Local reporters later failed to find Zhao at local hospitals, it said.

12/29/2001-On the 28th, Zhao Wei appeared along with Sue Yu Pen and Leo Gu in Hou Nan for the Qin Sen Sen concert as previously planned by China TV. At first, everything went along just fine, but during Zhao Wei's last performance, a man of about 20-some years old ran upstage, and shoved Zhao Wei, making her fall on the stage. According to the media, the man had ran upstage with the intension of beating Zhao Wei for the Japanese flag incident, believing that Zhao Wei was being disloyal to Chinese for wearing the dress.

Afterwards, Zhao Wei's manager claims that Zhao Wei had not suffered at all from any harm done by the man, saying that Zhao Wei merely fell because she was wearing high heels at the time. Leo Gu, who was backstage at the time answered to the reporters when asked that he had thought a wild fan had merely run onstage to hug Zhao Wei. Leo also added that he thought perhaps people were making a big deal out of nothing. Perhaps the man's action has nothing to do with the flag incident, and people are just too sensitive about the issue.

Later, online, out of about one hundred thousand people voted whether they agree, disagree or were indifferent with the man for terrorising Vicki for the Japanese flag incident. The result was shocking. Over half of the people voted that Vicki deserved all that she had gotten from the terrorer, whereas half believed that the man's action was those of a wild man, and Zhao Wei, who had already apologised for something that had never been her fault, was completely innocent and did not deserve to be treated in such a way.

Zhao Wei, when asked about the incident, merely had her manager tell everyone that she was just fine, both physically and emotionally. Right now, Zhao Wei is already in Shang Hai where she is begining the filming of a new New Year's movie, "Tian Xia Wu Shan" which is rumored to also have famous singer Wong Faye starring in it. On the 31st, Zhao Wei was suppose to attend the New Year's festival where she is planning to sing at China TV, however, because of this incident, Zhao Wei has been truely shocked and dismayed and has requested that she do not attend the festival. China TV understood Zhao Wei's feeling and agreed to Zhao Wei's request.

All because of a stupid madman who had the gaol to run upstage and terrorize Zhao Wei, Zhao Wei now not only can not appear at the New Year's festival at China TV, but she now feels immense tension and pain. All because a bunch of reporters and other medias will not let go of this small incident, making it the big thing that it definity is NOT, Zhao Wei must be really hurt emotionally by the hostile people she has to face. Where has all the kindness and goodness of humans gone?

Fellow fans, please show our support for Zhao Wei! Go online and vote for her, and tell her how much we love her and shall always support. This will be a balm to our Vicki's bruised heart. Having to deal with so many people who blames her for something she had no control over must be painful. Please show your support!

12/25/2001-Lately, Zhao Wei entered the China's Top Lastest Females list as part of a competition on a certain Chinese website. After Zhao Wei's earlier rumors about her wearing the Japanese flag-dress, many internet fans were suprised to see Zhao Wei's name entered as a canidate. Some even wrote to the company, questioning Zhao Wei's eligibility, believing that Zhao Wei should not be a canidate because of her previous incident with the flag. However, the manager of the competition replied that Zhao Wei should be on the list because during the past year, she had done a fantastic job of her career. Whether she will win the competition depends entirely on the fans who choose to either vote for her or against her.

12/25/2001-Ever since Qin Sen Sen Yu Men Men finished broadcasting in Hou Nan, China, the television company had hoped to bring the cast of QSSYMM to Hou Nan for a concert as a way to thank the fans. However, because the members of the cast had been busy, the concert has not become a reality, up until now. On November 5, the company has already signed a legal contract with Zhao Wei, Leo Gu and Alec Sue for them to come to Hou Nan for the Qin Sen Sen New Year's Concert.

However when news of Zhao Wei's incident with the Japanese flag reached Hou Nan, the television was shocked, and had numerious meetings deciding whether or not to still invite Zhao Wei to the concert. After much decision, the company decided to Zhao Wei anyhow, and this New Year, Zhao Wei is definitly going to be there.

Fans that can go, please go and support Zhao Wei in her time of need!

12/13/2001-Earlier on, Zhao Wei appeared in a certain fashion magazine wearing a sexy dress made from the design of a Japanese flag. This caused a multiple of discussions among various newspapers and spiteful critisms from historians because they believe Zhao Wei's action was outright condemning. Under the pressure of the media and the audience, Zhao Wei sent forth a letter to the bigger newspapers and other medias, apologizing gor the incident. Although the audiences and most of the medias seemed to have forgiven her, the historians would not let the issue drop. Even now, they are still criticising Zhao Wei for an incident in which she had been totally innocent of for she had merely been following the dictate of the manager of the magazine. This magazine has already resigned from her position and apologized to Zhao Wei fro the trouble that she had given Zhao Wei. After all, the clothes were supplied by the magazine itself, having nothing to do with Zhao Wei herself personally. But what is the big deal about weaaring a Japanese flag dress anyways. These historians are like dogs who will not let go of a particularly meaty bone. Disgusting.

2001-12-12 - It may only be "retro" fashion, but starlet Vickie Zhao Wei has learned that wearing history is no fickle matter in China.

While outfits worn by Red Guards during Mao Zedong's 1966-76 Cultural Revolution have come into vogue at parties, 1930s-era Japanese wartime gear will forever be out.

Zhao learned her lesson the tough way after a magazine photo of her modelling a mini-dress printed with the old Japanese naval flag triggered a backlash among patriotic fans and media in China, still rife with resentment over Tokyo's past aggression, Reuters reported.

A tabloid based in Nanjing, where hundreds of thousands of people were killed by Japanese soldiers in 1937, spearheaded a media campaign last week to boycott news of the actress and advertisements she appeared in.

Zhao, who catapulted to fame playing a sassy princess in a wildly popular soap opera set in the 1644-1912 Qing Dynasty, had no choice but to apologise.

"I profoundly feel that I neglected the study of history and was insensitive toward that painful historical period," she wrote in a letter published in state media and on Web sites this week.

"As a young actor raised by a nation and a people, I want to tell everyone I am very patriotic."

China's bitter memories of the 1930s-40s Japanese occupation have been refreshed this year by Tokyo's refusal to revise a history book accused of whitewashing Japan's war record and Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visit to a war shrine.

Zhao's own grandfather perished at age 30 fighting the Japanese, said a letter of explanation issued by the Chinese fashion magazine which published the Zhao photo.

The magazine's creative director has already stepped down over the photo shot in New York and published in September, Chinese media said.

Zhao is not the first starlet to endanger her own career in China over with a political no-no.

Mainland authorities officially banned Taiwanese pop star Chang Huei-mei from performing or appearing on advertisements on the mainland for over a year after she sang Taipei's national anthem at President Chen Shui-bian's inauguration last year.

China regards Taiwan as a rebel province that must be reunited with the mainland, by force if necessary. Beijing took a particularly dim view of an election victory by Chen who had voiced support for calls for Taiwan's independence.

There were no signs of China blacklisting Zhao, who said she did not recognise the print of the red "rising run" emitting rays of light as the hated Japanese symbol.

But after her apology, many of the thousands debating the flap on China's Internet bulletin boards were still irked.

One self-avowed fan of the actress said: "This is no different from a Jew wearing a Nazi banner and proudly publishing it in an Israeli magazine."

The chief editor of a Beijing-based celebrity monthly said China's free-wheeling media had "blown the incident out of proportion to some extent."

But he told Reuters he would think twice before featuring Zhao in future issues.

"This sort of incident really gets on people's nerves. What's most appalling is she didn't even know," the editor said.

She reported to the filming unit on the 5th, and has since made 2 days of night scenes. All she said was, she felt very cold but has not heard or seen anything of the attacks.

The filming of this movie “Tien Di Yin Xiong?so far has been at night and the temperature often went down to -0 degree Celsius at night. The temperature in the daytime has been around 10+ Celsius. Coldness is not Vicki’s biggest worry, all of them came prepared with proper clothing. But because of the dryness of the air, Vicki needs to drink a lot of water otherwise, she would get crack lips.

Although the filming has been from 6pm to 7am plus the extremely cold weather, fans are not deterred from such conditions. There are still a lot of fans around.

The distance between their “camp?and the filing location is about 70 KM and the road are not the most comfortable of all, therefore, even the leading actor and actress choose to stay at the filming location to wait for their next set. In “Tian Di Yin Xiong/Heros? Vicki will be playing against Jiang Wen. The rumor has it that, the filming started since August in Xin Jiang area, Vicki has not been there on time because she doesn’t really appreciate the movie. Some even said that she was going to withdraw from the movie.

Talking about ‘withdrawing?from the movie, Vicki said the rumor got the wrong film. The movie she could not accept was “Ban Ting? As for “Tian Di Yin Xiong?and “Wei Kuang Sha Ji? US Columbia Film Industry has investment in these two movies and she confirmed that she was in. She would be playing a general’s daughter. Very different from all her previous roles, therefore, she felt that it was challenging.

After Vicki’s appearances in QSSYMM, her popularity has gone up a lot. She has been offered a lot of movie contracts and advertisements. Since her involvement in the cosmetic advertisement, she has become more mature. A while back, she was involved in another advertisement about shower gel, her image then, gave viewers the impression of freshness. Although her gratitude for advertisement were on the high side, but those who offer didn’t seem to mind at all.

After Zhang Bo Zhi/Cecelia Cheung’s drastic sliming activities, she has become more beautiful and her acting career has also becoming more successful. She has just finished making 2 movies and she will be starting on a new movie with a Korean male actor very soon.

10/12/2001- After spending close to one and a half months in Hong Kong to film her latest movie, "Twilight Angel," Zhao Wei has finally joined the cast of her next movie, "Heros" in Sing Xiang, where the casts have already started filming about two to three weeks ago.

As both of her films, especially the "Twilight Angel" required Zhao Wei to be able to "fight," Vicki exclaimed that for the past two months, she had been exercising almost every single day. At first, Vicki claimed that she was sore for about a week every time she came back from her lessons. But as time went on, her body got more and more used to the strenolous exercise. Now, Vicki says, she was in great shape, and her body has definity become more fit, and firm. So all the hard work has truly paid off!

Sources has that in the "Twilight Angel," not only does Vicki have to act as a killer who was pursued by a female cop, Karen Moore's character, but she will have to act as a gay/lesbian person as well. Though Vicki had always had confidence in her acting skills, this time she faced a challenge she'd never faced before...to act as lovers with Karen Moore's character. In this, Vicki could only relie on Karen to help her out as Karen had previously acted as a lesbian in several of her previous movies. Still, Vicki replied that she was unafraid of the audiences' reaction when they see her in this character, especially as the only thing Karen and her were required to do was share a peck of a kiss, and nothing else.

Having arrived 3 days ago to Sing Xiang, Vicki says that she has flung herself wholeheartfully onto the movie. Right now all she wanted to concentrate on was her role in the movie, and trying to protect her unblemished skin from Sing Xiang's fiery sun.
