YuPen in Atlantic City

YuPen's News-Main Page
Sorry everyone. I couldn't go to the concert myself so here are some news written by other YuPen's fans (thanks!) that went..If you also went and you'll like to share the details with us, please e-mail me at Blue_daisy3@hotmail.com Thanks!

i know you all are really excited to hear more about the concert so i'll try my best. he was everything sabrina said he was... cute as hell! that girl singer came on first so u could imagine how disappointed and weak the crowd was at applause. i felt like an eternity befor she finally introduced alec. She said "and here he is alec su" or sumhtin like that... but no one appeared on stage, instead all we heard was a voice singing "we wish u a merry christmas".. everyone knew it was him and you heard a few screams from the crowd here and there..mine included!=) then he walked out from the side smiling his ever-so-cute- smile and continued the song very slowly... nodding as he walked across hte stage. he broke into the song "look over here, girl". that was the best cus he was all hyper and excited adn he welcomed in each and every person in that audience by staring at them with that sweet determination. He did all the little hand gestures and face expressions as seen in his movies. Ya know, like how he blots his lips, or closes his eyes or lifts his eyebrows... the whole nine-yards. he began to speak in mandarin i think but then changed into cantonese... i personally would have preferred if he spoke in mandarin cus my cantonese is very weak but i thinki he did that because he knew tha tin the audience there was a select group of ppl that had flew in from Toronto just to see hima nd he knew they spoke only cantonese.. so to me it was just a + for his personality. ANYWAY.. back to the concert.

anyway i forgot what other songs he sang but there were just a few... at one point in time during the first part of his performance, he started to give out posters that he had autographed. He threw them around the crowd and attempted to throw most of them to the back of the theatre.. which i must say was extremely thoughtful.. afterwards he welcomed the lady singer back on stage...when he came back again he had switched into a guy tank-- ya kno SLEEVE LESS-- and he had this ring thingy around his neck that was full of fur..he even asked the crowd "ya like?" At times you would hear someone yellout "i love you alec" and then he would always reply very happily "i love u too!" with a smile =) as for the contest.. he picked four contestants.. 2 girls 2 guys to get up on stage and do "sumthing" he didn't say what till we were all on stage. (i was one of the ppl wjho got picked) the game was to play telephone. The catch was we had to tell the person next to us what the person befor us had told us with our mouths filled with water, starting w/ him. he had some dificulty with it himself... and began to laugh his innocent laugh.. it was so touching.. by the time it got to me all i could do was gurgle... all the same he jus smiled and said "it;s ok" our reward was an enlarged autogrpahed picture of him.. he handed a picture inside an envelope to each of us adn then shook each and everyone of our hands before lettign us getr off the stage. i felt as tho my heart was gonna jump out of my mouth and that my legs would fail me and just fall right out under me. towards the end of his solo performance he began to throw out a basket of candy..flinging handfuls of what looked to be "glittering jewels". and before exiting the stage he didn;t forget to wish everyone a merry christams.. event tho it was past 12. as for other comments i must make about his performance.. i personally was so touched. because as sabrina mentioned, he did come down from the stage and walk around the entire theatre to go shake hands with the audience, but the music was coming to an end before he had covered the left side of the theatre... so he said he'd get to that side later on in the show.. and sure enuf on his last song he did get off stage and go to that side. he was kinda skinny... not jus kinda but like really skinny.. i wish he wouldn't work so hard.. cus it's really hurtin his health adn u could tell.. but never the less.. he pulled off an excellent performance....also.. i realized that alec is jus a person a living breathing person and not a saint as i had glamorized him to be... don't get me wrong i love this guy to death.. but going to this concert and actually seeing him in real life does tend to change a person's perspective.. i kno it changed mine.. i guess u could say it shattered my fantasy.. my dream about one day meeting him.. because in a way i did meet him.. and reality, a memory is never as glamerous and perfect as my dream...i dunno.. my heart feels empty.. it's like "what now?" i saw him.. shook hands with him.. everything i had wanted and more.. but what now? what's there to dream about now? eh.. maybe it's jus a phase i'm sure i'll be dreamin about him in no time.. as for the concert there's nothing to say except... damn is he good... and CUTE!! but for those who missed it.. no worry he'll be back.. with such good fans like us.. he'll come back =)

Sabrina 12/27/99 18:17:34 留言---- I know there are many people more qualified to report Alec's Atlantic City concert than I . However, if I don't share my happiness with someone, I'm afraid I'm going to brust. I apologize in advance for not using Chinese much--otherwise, it probably will take me until next year to finish it.

O.K. , here it goes: Alec was 神 采 飛 揚 他唱的盡情我們看的忘情 He sang a merry Xmas tune before he even got on the stage. From the first note, 我的魂就給他收走了 In the first half of the show, he wore a silver white long sleeve shirt. It is semi-transparent and he didn't bother to button all the buttons-- except two. So, ladies, just use your imagination. He had applied some sparkles to his face and neck and he wore a ring on his right thumb and a necklace. He is quite tanned. He looked very spirited and energetic. He was constantly moving from one end of stage to the other. His trade mark smile never left his face ( except when he sang a 張 學 有 Cantonese song. Even though I don't understand a word of what he sang, just watched his facial expression, I was still moved by the song).

He came down to the audience and gave out his autograph. He was very poised and graceful throughtout. I don't know how he managed to be so good natured. He constantly said thank you and nodded to everyone he came in contact with (I'm not one of the lucky ones). He seems relaxed and genuinely happy. In the second half of the show, he changed into a dark gray Tai-silk type of shirt. This time he buttoned all the buttons and tucked it into his pants. He sat on a stool and sang 擦肩而過 .

He explained that this is the first song that he ever wrote and he even received royalties form it and that's the reason why he chose the song. Moments like were so precious, it made me felt he was talking to a friend. Alec has a special gift of speaking to a roomfull of people and his hopeness and sincerity make each individual feel he is alone with Alec.

When he picked 4 participant from the audience to play game with him, he was delighted that one of his old friend was among them. He enjoyed the game so much, his laughter was so contagious, it filled up the whole theater. By the time the show was winding down, he was perspiring so much you can't tell whether they were sweats or sparkles.

Finally, when Ms. Lee was ready to sing the duet with Alec, she asked if anyone in the audience had a piece of tissue for Alec to wipe off his sweats. And all of a sudden, I was engulfed by a sense of pride and sadness at the same time. I knew how hard he strived to be the best of what he does. How much he had to forsake in order to achieve that goal.

Here I was, watching his performance with my whole family and he had to fly around the world, thousands of miles away from his family during the holiday season.

In this first encounter, Alec is everything as I expected and eveything as I did not expect. He is kind, gentle, good nature, funny, thoughtful, vivacious and intelligent. However, he was not the charaters that he played. Those characters merely reflected a small part of his personality, Only when he was on stage and sang his heart out that he was closesest to his true self. And I like him more because of that.
